Bringing Generations Together
Healthy soil helps gardens grow, but sometimes the best things growing are the connections made along the way.
Purple Cow Organics is proud to support Hope & A Future, a Madison, Wisconsin nonprofit bringing older adults, caregivers, families, and volunteers together through a unique approach to intergenerational community living. Hope & A Future is dedicated to creating a welcoming community where people of all ages can connect, contribute, and support one another. Their 5.5-acre property in Madison includes gardens, walking paths, and spaces for shared activities.
Each year, more than 300 volunteers help maintain the property and support programs that encourage meaningful relationships across generations. From music and art to gardening and community gatherings, Hope & A Future creates opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Purple Cow Organics is proud to support Hope & A Future through a compost donation for their vegetable gardens, which feature both raised beds and traditional in-ground rows. Throughout the growing season, volunteers grow tomatoes, beans, peppers, kale, chard, squash, cucumbers, and more. Our compost helps improve soil structure, support beneficial soil biology, and add organic matter to create a healthy growing environment for their gardens.
We're especially grateful for volunteers like the Epsilon Xi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. at UW-Madison, who spent time caring for the gardens this season.
At Purple Cow, we believe healthy soil is the foundation for growing good things. We're happy our compost can play a small role in a community where those good things extend far beyond the garden.
