Helping Move Composting Forward in Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Composting Council works to strengthen and grow the composting industry across the state through education, collaboration, and industry advocacy.
Purple Cow Organics is proud to be part of that work. Our CEO, Jerod Reuter, serves as Treasurer on the Wisconsin Composting Council Board, working alongside composters, municipalities, industry professionals, and other leaders committed to expanding composting opportunities throughout Wisconsin.
For Purple Cow, this involvement is a natural extension of what we do every day: finding better ways to manage organic materials, create high-quality compost, and support healthier soils.
About the Wisconsin Composting Council
The Wisconsin Composting Council brings together composters, businesses, municipalities, and industry professionals who share a common goal of advancing composting in Wisconsin.
Through education, collaboration, and industry involvement, the Council helps create opportunities to share knowledge, address challenges facing compost operators, and encourage the responsible use of organic materials.
The organization also provides a voice for Wisconsin's composting industry as conversations continue around organics recycling, compost production, infrastructure, and the use of finished compost.
Why Composting Matters
Composting gives organic materials a valuable second life.
Instead of treating these materials as waste, composting turns them into a resource that can be put back into the soil. Finished compost helps add organic matter to soil and supports healthier growing environments while creating another beneficial use for materials that may otherwise be discarded.
Growing composting in Wisconsin requires more than individual composters doing the work. It takes collaboration between businesses, municipalities, regulators, communities, and others across the industry.
The Wisconsin Composting Council helps bring those groups together to share ideas, build understanding, and continue moving the industry forward.
Purple Cow + Wisconsin Composting Council
Composting has been at the heart of Purple Cow Organics since our beginning.
Jerod brings years of hands-on experience in compost production and organic material management to his role with the Wisconsin Composting Council. Since Purple Cow Organics began in 2008, he has been involved in nearly every part of the business and understands both the opportunities and the everyday challenges that come with operating in the composting industry.
His involvement with the Council gives Purple Cow the opportunity to contribute that experience to larger conversations about the future of composting in Wisconsin while continuing to learn from others doing this work across the state.
For us, being involved is about more than representing Purple Cow. It's about supporting a stronger composting industry and helping create more opportunities for composting to grow throughout Wisconsin.
Building a Stronger Future for Wisconsin Composting
The future of composting depends on people across the industry working together.
Sharing knowledge, improving education, supporting practical policies, and expanding opportunities to put organic materials to beneficial use all play a part in moving Wisconsin composting forward.
We're proud to have Jerod representing Purple Cow Organics in these conversations and to support the Wisconsin Composting Council's work to strengthen the industry across our state.
