If Growing in a Seed Starting Tray

  1. Moisten the Mix
Add water until the mix holds its shape when squeezed, but doesn’t drip water.
  2. Fill Your Containers
Fill flats, pots, or trays with the moistened mix. Gently shake to settle—do not compact.
  3. Plant Your Seeds
Sow seeds and lightly cover with moistened mix at the depth recommended for each variety.
  4. Maintain Moisture
Mist regularly to keep the surface evenly moist until germination. Water as needed after seedlings emerge.
  5. Transplant When Ready
Move seedlings to individual containers as needed. Avoid transplanting into pots larger than 2" at this stage.

If Using a Soil Blocker

  1. Prepare the Mix
Blend one part warm water with three parts mix until it reaches a peanut butter–like consistency.
  2. Create a Mound
On a firm surface, form a mound of mix about 1¼–1½ times deeper than the height of the soil blocker.
  3. Form the Blocks
Press the blocker firmly into the mix, twist slightly, and lift.
  4. Release the Blocks
When properly moistened, the mix will hold its shape and release easily onto a tray or growing surface.
  5. Reset the Blocker
Rinse with warm water between sets for clean, consistent blocks.
  6. Sow Seeds
Place a seed in the indentation of each block and cover according to the seed packet instructions.
  7. Retain Moisture
Cover with a clear dome to maintain humidity and prevent drying during germination.
